Well I hate leggings at the best of times, for some reason prefer not to have the knees covered. however succumbed for the few winter commutes I did. Only started commuting towards the end of the summer and wore my tennis skort but would now like to get some cycling shorts really hated it in those leggings today. What do you recommend, don't want to spend the earth and would be nice to have a touch of colour somewhere on whether it be stripes or flashes (poor choice of word!), are padded or non padded best. My leggings are padded which I hate walking around in but on the other hand I guess it's more comfy to ride.

I've a variety of shorts but for cycling around town I don't bother with padding, and quite often due to wanting variety and choice of colours just wear ordinary shorts. I like the sound of your tennis skort. My cycling shorts are by Altura, Fox and Scott - but not much in the way of colour on their ... bit of white detail on the Fox shorts. All have removable liners which I would only bother with on a longer ride.

Maybe I should stick to the skort then have a look on pwp or tennisnuts, milletts sports. Just thought it wasn't very cycling orientated but it does at least cover some of the unwanted rolls which hopefully will disappear eventually. I've just ordered a nice black and white checked one for tennis,

Ha - I was taking some stuff to the charity shop yesterday after that earlier post, and always feel guilty if I don't look at their stuff at the same time (I know bit of stupid logic there). I found a skort in my size. I thought I may as well buy it and then see whether I would feel comfortable in it than paying full price and never wearing it.
