...Recycle- A-Bicycle, a non-profit organisation. I’m not entirely sure what recycling an already green mode of transport (while also helping inner city kids) does for one’s karma, but these people are probably ready for a halo or two. The group works with children at city schools to teach them bike maintenance and repair - who can then volunteer to work at the workshops (Recycle… has two in New York) and “earn” a bike. They also run after-school programs, job training and promote everyday bike use. If you buy one of their refurbished second-hand bikes (from approximately $220 and up), the money goes towards all of the above.
