Id be interested to see any videos or pictures of the mars 4!!

Have a look at Fossyant's review its got quite a good pic IMO its excellent value for money.

PS I need to do a wall throw pic as the Mars 4.0 is awesome - I showed a colleague today, and pre-warned him not to look at it......

If you think on my pics, that's 1 tiny LED that throws out that light compared to two 5 LED rears.....the light 'emission' is good - PS I am no camera expert.....

It is hellishly bright compared to the very good multi led's that are known to be good already.... I've not had a Smart before, but this is 1watt, not 1/2 watt - and it had good water proofing and mounting...

The BLT and Dinnotte are as good, Dinnotte possibly loads better !!!

dunno, all half ecent rear lights seem to be very bright these days, how many accidents are caused by traffic approaching from behind not seeing you?

every accident I've ever had has been people not seeing me doing something in front of me, granted usually because they didn't look but still

I think it's front lights that need attention, especially in daylight, my rather expensive joystick runs day and night and I honestly think it's made a difference

I don't think that I've ever been involved in a near miss when the cager didnt see me - they just do it because they are stupid/psychotic/blind/old/pissed/crap - pick any selection.

Had my first incident a couple of weeks back when a car overtook too close on a busy A-road, took the panniers off the right side of the bike and sent me flying across a garage forecourt (nothing broke, everything fine). So it's probably rare, but it happens.

Had a Busch and Muller rack light + couple of reflectors and the pannier reflectors, not sure how bright in the scheme of things but seemed bright enough.

So anyhow looking to put a 2nd bright light on the back and/or perhaps a couple of those small lights that hang anywere on the outside pannier straps. Think someone posted about giving the bike 'width' I think that's what i'll try.

I've got a smart flash on the outside corner of the rack and I've got two lights to install in place of the drop bar plugs, I saw them on another bike and was surprised at how wide they made the bike appear, has to be a no brainer for £12

as for not caring, I find it hard to believe driver would deliberately cause an accident through not caring, they plain don't look and if they do, don't see

I'm constantly surprised and disappointed by how shoddy and cheap the mounts are for even for well designed and made lights, the one for my Polaris front light is ludicrous, complicated and fiddle but rubbish

the joystick very expensive light has a very simple and cheap mount that's excellent, it's a hard plastic sprung clip that holds the body of the light, that's locked to the handlebar with an adjustable zip tie, takes seconds to instal and remains rock solid

Would say they are the wrong words yes,perhaps reckless would be more in line.

I give my bike width with a rear-pointing Blackburn on the handlebar end.

The only serious accident I've had was being hit from behind at night .

While you have some control over events occurring in front of you, behind you have to rely purely on your lights. I think your rear lights need to be bright enough to content with the lights of oncoming traffic that can blind the driver behind you. I run a dinotte front and rear. I do realize that I'm a little paranoid on this .

I'm not sure if they didn't see me outright or just misjudged the width of either me or their own vehicle. I was within a metre of the side of the road, most likely around half that, nothing unusual. Didn't knock me off the bike, just sent me flying off at a left angle across the forecourt 20 odd metres. Guess lucky it was there or it would have been the hedge. All okay anyhow, not even rips in the panniers, only sign of been hit funny enuff was seat angle got bashed to 45 degrees. Just a bit of shock and weariness about busy a-roads at night .

They didn't stop afaik. Although I thought I noticed a camper van do a U-turn and park in the garage forecourt a while. Might have been them just watching if I was okay - looks like he his, no point going over and getting into a row. I did let out quite a stream of language immediately after been knocked. Didn't think at all to look what hit me at that point, just swearing and tryng to stay on the bike.
