Has anyone else seen Halfords are advertising a 'grade A' A-line (ex shop-display) at £612. When I attempt to put one in the basket it states 'not available at this store'. I've tried several 'locations' as my home town, but there is no stock.
I strongly suspect this is a marketing ploy to 'reel-in' buyers who may then fall for the bait and buy a more expensive Brompton. Am I being too cynical?

I think it's probably just out of stock. I've had similar disappointments from Halfords in the past as I don't think the website's geared to actually explicitly state that there's not stock left..

They've got a load of 'C' line ex-display on there for a while as well - none of them were ever in stock anywhere when I tried last week.

I understand this is a website not working well with reality.

If you're keen to buy the bike visit your local branch and ask them to locate it for you and get it transferred to the local store.

It usually means there is at least one available in the UK. Logic has it that zero stock activates the 'out of stock ' tag.

Halfords ordering is a nightmare. It feels like, for me, 50% of my collect instore items either never arrive or get none communicated.

Looks like they’ve bought a load of Brompton excess stock, some of those bikes are over 4 years old. They stopped making the M3L in 2021. But there are some bargains if you can actually buy one.

That's a shame - while I'm cynical about the brand in general they do sometimes come up trumps on price and I've never had any issues with click and collect..

I tend to buy the limited offer items which compounds the problem. All stores on this seem problematic, not just my recent strange adventures with their Team Valley store.

Yeah, I find service is very dependent on the individual member of staff you deal with, I'd never trust them to work on my bikes and I'm sure the infrastructure is probably creaky to say the least.. but I can't complain from personal experience.

While I could get stuff delivered I quite like the ritual / outing of going to the shop to collect it..

Just had a look this morning and they appear to be in stock now and available for shipping either to store or home.
