Was out on my usual weekend route today (I know it's Friday but I'm on holiday). Got my road bike a few weeks ago, and having gone through the teething aches and pains, was enjoying a pootle on the country lanes. Just as I was getting to 'the climb', glanced over my shoulder to see a rider coming fast behind me. I'm quite used to being over taken so just kept at my own pace. Instead of the usual 'Morning' (if I'm lucky), the guy slowed down and after we'd negotiated the hill, chatted about bikes i.e. the fact that we both had the same bike (Triban 3) and how we were finding them.
Turned out that he'd had his a bit longer...about 4 months and was trying to lose weight (me too). As we were just about to head in different directions he said that he'd lost 6 stone since he started cycling...
Didn't get his name but wanted to say well done mate and thanks for slowing down and taking the time to see me up the hill and and share a bit of your adventure.
