Bought a Raleigh Massif many years ago, good bike for what I needed at the time but an awful colour. So I stripped it down and repainted it with black hamerite. It looked surprisingly good, I still have the bike and the paint is still looking good. I doubt that this is the sort of paint job you had in mind though!

What did you use to strip the frame with?
Sorry, what I should have written was that I stripped the bike of all its components.
The only preparation I did to the existing paint work was to give it a rub down with wet and dry paper to make a good key for the hamerite. I’m still surprised that it’s still looking good. This was done about 10 years ago.
