Does anyone have any suggestions for replacing a Shimano Altus C20 6-speed rear shifter? (it's a single lever, thumb operated, spring centred with a ratchet mech - pull up, push down). Ideally I'd like to replace it with something similar, without being obliged to also replace the front shift and the brake-levers.

(Yes, I know it is ancient - early 1990's - so no comments about which museum I got it from, thank you.)

The casing has broken where the bowden cable enters the shifter housing causing the cable to snag where it abuts the shifter mech frame - this has little or no effect on up-shifting (pulling up to a larger sprocket) but often causes down-shifting to delay to varying degrees. Sometimes it changes OK, sometimes it delays by a few seconds and sometimes there's no inclination that it will change at all... very irritating!

I believe all Shimano 6 speed have the same sprocket pitch, so all Shimano 6 speed shift levers should be suitable.

Perhaps something like this?
