Resignation.

I put in my resignation on Wednesday 21st of May; my boss responded in email on the Friday 23rd saying he accepted it and I'd be leaving on the 20th of June. However, he said (verbally) that he wouldn't process it until the new company sent an unconditional (ie not dependant on reference offer). This has still not arrived and now he's saying he still has to process things and the earliest he will let me go is on the 27th June; I'm supposed to start the new job on the 23rd. Sorry to drag you into this dilemna but has anybody any experience of similar and can offer advice.

Your resignation has been accepted and a date agreed in writing. As Mort says it has F all to do with him regarding a firm offer on paper from your new employer

I would however have a issue of concern that it is 2 weeks since you handed in your resignation and you still do not have from your new employer the offer of the job in writing.

I agree with the others above who said you've given the required notice and it's been accepted.

Besides, where you go after that is no concern of your current employer; what if you'd just decided to be a man of leisure?
Surely it's nothing to do with your boss or your notice period whether you've got a firm offer on paper or not. What if you'd won the lottery, would he ask to se the cheque?
If I won the lottery I don't think I'd be working my notice, might cut down on the overtime a bit though.

Go on, tilt your head!
Tell him to swivel, I'd be a bit concerned if I hadn't had the new job offer in writing yet though, mind you crystal meth cartels aren't very hot on paperwork are they.

I had a job offer in writing the next morning after my interview, subject to reference; he said he wanted to see one not subject to anything before he realeased me :-(
