If the seller contacted you over a month after the sale, to return your money on retraction of feedback left by you. Would you?

I still have to send the items back at cost to myself, in order to get my money back. Thats a downside to it. I'd rather not bother dealing with the seller again & leave it as it was entered. "Caveat Emptor"

One or two bad experiences. But this is the first time that the seller has offerred to take back the goods & give back the money taken, just so that I'll retract by feedback.

Bought printer inks for a HP printer, advertised as being genuine HP. Upon delivery it was found that they were compatables only. I'll use them, I'll not but from that seller again.

Something like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-HP10-HP...ng_PrinterInkCatridges_JN&hash=item5ade29585d

Do not believe that this is the same seller, similar item thats all.

In that case, I'd be tempted to ADD to the feedback

I'm not even sure you can retract feedback?

Panter is spot on. Once left feedback cannot be retracted. That said, both parties could go through eBay and agree to a retraction, but I think eBay themselves investigate both sides first and have to be happy/agree themselves to retract it. I think they only remove it if it's obscene, defamatory, libellous that sort of thing.

You can retract feedback, I would suspect he is hoping that you were one of the people who left detailed seller ratings of under 3. He does not give a feck about the red neg he cares about the loss of his discount, loss of search postion promototion due to the loss of his Top Rated Seller status....

Iv'e always thought that any feedback left should be honest, regardless of who leaves it. Them or me. This would at least make it fairer. Its how others are supposed to be able to make judgements on who they buy from.

IME most printer cartridge sellers are Business Sellers, Business Sellers are obliged by statute (the distance selling reg I think) to pay the return post as well as refund original price and original p&p in full for goods not as described (no matter what their ad says about return policy). If they refuse, all you need to do is to have proof of return postage (free from post office) and Paypal/ebay will likely force the refund through if they don't play ball.

However I do appreciate for minor items the effort might not be worth it. In that case I would either just give them a negative feedback to warn future buyers, or tell them (it is no threat, certainly not an empty one) that unless they give you a partial refund immediately of whatever figure you think fit they will get a flaming feedback.

There is a 45 days limit for you to begin raising such disputes officially through ebay.

Its over the 45 day limit. But given that they were "not as described". Compatables & not genuine then it could be counted as a false decription of the goods.

I just thought it was odd that someone would seek to get the feedback retracted. Outside of ebay. Feedback has been left & Iv'e no intention of removing what was left.

Like I said he probably has quite a few visable and invisable "negs" ie his seller ratings have gone over .50% and when this happens he loses Trusted seller status. This has a cost in both search placement and discount off of his fees. He is blindly trying to "bribe" the negs he can see to retract thus removing the low score. His account may also have had selling limits placed. Tell him to double the refund and you will remove it.... not really but I bet he would!
