Thinking of changing bikes.......

Currently got a Carrera TDF which is great but im getting very drawn to the Raleigh Revenio!
Still a beginner in every sense so there is no point in spending big bucks on a bike (just my opinion)
They are roughly the same cost but it seems the Revenio has a slightly better spec. ....carbon forks !

The Revenio has a taller front tube so iv read, which would give me a more upright position which would obviously give me a more comfortable riding experience.
Hardy any flat roads here in West Wales so ultimately I want to be comfortable rather than fast ......For now !!!
Also I'm doing London to Paris next year and hopefully a couple of other charity events so this is why I'd choose comfy over fast...
Anyone own a Raleigh Revenio and could tell me what they're like.

Worth bearing in mind that 'more upright' is not necessarily the same as 'more comfortable' - also, I can't quite understand the lure of carbon forks? I'm not familiar with the Revenio (other than what I've read online), but if you end up shelling out more money for a Revenio expecting it to be a major improvement over what you have, then I think you may be disappointed. TBH, I would stick with what you have.

The bikes are of the same value. Exactly to be honest.
I know from my own personal riding position that I'd rather be more upright. I wouldn't be spending any more money either.

Nothing wrong with what iv got mind, I was looking at the Raleigh before I bought the TDF but it just so happened that the TDF was on offer at the time and was too tempting to resist

I can't really see the point of changing like for like.
If you want a more upright riding position you could try changing your stem for one with a few degrees rise or a Ritchey adjustable stem which would allow you to play about with different positions.
I honestly don't think the purchase of the Raleigh to replace your current bike would be worth it.

I have the revenio bought it as my first ever road bike so didn't want to spend to much, (Wasn't sure if i would like the experience... I DO) its ok, upright position not the quickest or lightest but it does the job.

Only today done a 40 miler around the country lanes it coped ok, but will look at def upgrading to a better spec bike next year http://www.coventrycyclecentre.co.uk/m21b8s6p4783/CUBE_Peloton_Race_Compact_2014

To be honest i cannot see you gaining much more from a TDF to revenio stick with what you have enjoy it and if you decide later on you enjoy the road bike experience save your pennies and upgrade

Thank you very much. It's good to get a review about it from someone on here

The Raleigh looks to be a worthwhile and competent starter bike. I've inspected one and hefted one at my LBS and if I was in the market for a first bike I would maybe choose it over an equivalent Carrera..........It felt very taught and I liked the overall design. It is, however, still very much a starter bike - word on the web is that the wheels are typically shonky and would warrant upgrading ASAP...... I'm not sure it would be worthwhile upgrade from where you are at the moment. YMMV.
