Was just about to buy a whole new groupset for the commuter.... but this has caught my eye dear boy...

Am not sure, I would want to do this on the tourer however, as we will be pretty much be just living in our cycle wear so wont need panniers and it is built for comfort, not speed... So the commuter would be better but I don't fancy a rucksack like stu's.. sorry stu. So if I can work around with help as not to need the tourer and carry the kitchen sink, then I would be giving serious consider to eating, your wife.. Ff Ff Ff Ff... haha.

So yeh, looks good. But am thinking ferry back, maybe a night one, and then cycle back the monday?

Can't do the Oct '11 ride, but hopefully when it's re-run next year I'll be able to make it.

Wot he said.

I just did a quick google on average temperatures in Bruges in October and April and it confirmed my hunch which was that October is a couple of degrees warmer

Another, for the 'can't make it in Oct but might be up for the 2012 version', here.

Same here

Sorry you can't make it Nigel, but it looks like we are on.

DP recced the Dutch section at the weekend and provided encouraging feedback on ease of navigation and frequency of ferries.

Busy sorting out logistics at the moment. Will post details shortly in case anyone else is tempted.

The plans for this have now evolved slightly.

We've decided to ride up during the day on Friday 28th and catch the overnight ferry. This means we won't stay in Delft but go straight from Hoek to Brugge (80-odd miles). From there it's as before: night in Brugge, lunch at Westvleteren and 6pm ferry back from Dunkirk.

One benefit is that the overnight ferry might work for people who can't get the Friday off but could get an evening train to Harwich.
