Rides around Southerness Scotland

Anyone out there know this area in terms of road rides, how quiet is the A710 for example. Up there for a week soon and want to know if it's worth taking my bike !!!!

I've never cycled in that area myself but given its a secondary A road I don't think it'll be too busy and having a look at the map there seems to be good alternative B roads (eg the B793) if it wasn't to your liking. I would take the bike if you can, IME you only regret not having taken something.

You might be better asking in Touring and Expeditions, there are a few people there who have toured the north.
