Afternoon all - I've come across a Ridgeback 603 hybrid locally for under £20 and wondered whether it's worth buying. The reason being that although it had a grip shift change it is a Shimano (maybe Altus?) triple chain set, 7 speed cassette, QR 36 spoke wheels, appear to be 26" rims, cantilever brakes.

Worth a punt? I was thinking of using it on local bridleways rather than my Club Tour

Anything to recommend or avoid it?

Thanks

Looks in decent nick from the picture.

For that price even if it needed a bit of work, and it's the right size I reckon it's worth a look.

Looks 700c wheels to me??

Ahh, good call, the seller seemed a bit vague on most details about it, but checking the photos again they are indeed 700's. Not sure it's what I was looking for now, though I was only browsing! Not sure a 700c MTB would be the thing, might have to rethink, thanks for pointing that out.

On the other hand, it still looks like a fun thing to tinker with

Bought my Ridgeback 603, back in 1996 as new lt came with 700 c wheels, which l find great on this bike. Still Riding it to this day as my workhorse and winter bike. For £20 l would take a look , just in case any rust has been painted over.

Unfortunately due to a mix up in understanding their directions... I was heading to the wrong town! It was sold to someone else

Never mind, a door closes and another will open, just need to keep my eyes peeled!
