By what I have read, this is my perceived vision of what happened:

You were filtering past the bus on its left (between bus and pavement) approaching a junction. And when you reached the front of the bus, a car turned right down the junction from opposing traffic.

Can I just say DO NOT PASS BIG VEHICLES ON THE LEFT! Otherwise things like this will happen.

Glad you are okay though and the bike seems fine.

The cycle lane was even painted green and had bike pictures across the mouth of the side road!

Fortunately I'm entirely fine, as is the bike by some miracle. Took it down to the shop and they said, as far as they could tell, it looked safe to ride. Gave it a ride and couldn't feel anything peculiar.

Tbh I'm not too bothered about pursuing any minor damages to the bike my end. I already had a new front wheel on order before the crash and was going to throw the current one away. Plus I was going to get a new helmet anyway because mine is a bit smelly and tatty!

I guess I could reasonable pursue a claim for new forks as I could say that there is no way for me to know for sure that there are no defects without xraying them. But I'm looking to get a new bike anyway so not so bothered.

I've notified BC with a brief report of the incident in case the other party does want to make a claim against me. I'm going on holiday tomorrow so I'm going to leave the ball in their court. My dad works with insurance claims handlers and he reckons I've got a pretty strong case because the cycle lane is marked across the mouth of the junction and if the driver's view was obscured by the bus then he should have been more cautious turning right.

Both driver and cyclist broke the same cardinal rule: never put yourself and your vehicle anywhere your vision hasn't visited first. But in this situation, I would say the driver bears 90% of the responsibility.
