I am planning to do the LEJOG next year, I have a reasonable Hybrid bike with 700 26c tyres, I will be un-supported and will have at least rear panniers. Will the 26c tyres be OK or should I be looking to fit wider tyres?

I have toured with 700c x 25mm, 700c x 28mm and 700c x 35mm tyres.

All have served me well.

If you are happy with what you have got I'd stick with them.

Shouldn't have any problem with what you have.

I toured with 700 x 25mm Schwalbe Marathon Kevlar this year on my cyclocross. Excellent tyres - no puncture problems, and they roll very well too so you're not going to be slowed down too much in comparison to slicks.

I was carrying a fair bit of weight too - 2 large rear panniers, a rack bag, plus tent and sleeping bag strapped above the panniers
