London's Burning actor John Alford dies in prison
So I actually didn't know he was in prison, and nearly didn't post this because it for sexual assault but here we are....
John Alford is someone that is either a bit famous to a certain age of person, or you have never heard of him. He was in Grange Hill and graduated to London's Burning and was very popular in both. He actually had a singing career (the 1990s being of the 'lets make a soap star a singer' times) though it was only moderately successful.
After that unfortunately it starts going wrong, the News of the World did a story on him using their 'fake sheikh' persona and he gained a drug conviction. Acting dried up and he left the business to go back working in various professions.
Later when the allegations about the NOTW and their shady practices came to light it gave me the question just how guilty/deserving was he of the original conviction?
Unfortunately by now it is too late, and this I didn't know but in 2024 he gained a sexual assault conviction and was jailed for 8.5 years. He has now been reported as having died in prison, cause not yet reported.
SA is very serious, and having being found guilty with now little chance of it being revisited to see if he was innocent as claimed it's difficult to feel sorry for him. But like I say to a certain age of person you grew up with this cheeky chappy schoolboy, who seemingly graduated into being a firefighter and then a singer.
A sad end and no winners in this story.
