I met him once. His daughter was singing in a band playing at a village do we were at. Kevin was sat to one side out of the way and I decided to pop over and say hello . He had just won a case against a newspaper for publishing untuths against him . I was a bit pissed but he was fantastic and tolerated my obvious pissed-ness and was very polite as we discussed how shoot newspapers can be.

Went abroad at a time when not many players did, and was that good that he was European footballer of the year.
When people in my running club comment on my short shorts I usually reply, 'Kevin Keegan was European footballer of the year wearing shorts like this, and if they were good enough for him.....' 😊

Very sad but looked like a guy who didn't know how to look after himself once the strict regime of training ended. He played (20 minutes) up at Tynecastle for John Robertson's testimonial when he was the mags' manager and he was huge.

Sad news indeed!
When it was revealed earlier in the year that he had stage four stomach cancer, we knew it was terminal. He was a great footballer and like @Dave7 said, him and John Toshak what a combination, though I'd like to put formidable before the word combination! They said they had a telepathic understanding, proved to be right on Granada TV's Kick Off Friday evening north west football preview where they could guess to an extent which card the other one was holding in his hand. I hope Liverpool FC have a statue made of him and placed outside their ground as he was truly one of their greatest ever players! Plus I hope Newcastle do similar as he gave his all while playing for and managing them! He was also a decent singer in his time!

One my of my colleagues when doing my nurse training had been apprentice at Scunthorpe with him. When I asked how come he didn’t make it as a professional he said he was too small. So given you and Kegan are about the same size how come he did. He said Kegan spent virtually every spare moment he had working to make himself stronger and fitter than anyone else.
