If you'd have asked me to guess I'd have said she was older than that and gone at least fifteen years.

She was actually younger than my nana whose funeral is today.

You can't beat that 40's and 50's Hollywood era when it comes to glamour and style.

The "just whistle" scene from Have and Have Not has to be the steamiest in all cinema. Of course the chemistry between the stars wasn't acting either.

One of my favourite films.

+1. All the more amazing when you consider that that was her first film, and she was 19 at the time. What a woman!

Try and see "A Foreign Field". TV drama/movie with Lauren Bacall, Alec Guiness, Leo McKern. Normandy veterans retrace their steps many years after the D Day landings. Good ending too.

It was strange to think that she was even still around until now - Bogart died so long ago (and so tragically before his time). Of course, she was only 19 when she was cast opposite him in To Have and Have Not, which transformed both their careers and lives... it seems so hard to believe she was so young as she gave the impression of such intelligence and maturity - which is what put her way above the run-of-the-mill sex symbols of the period. And she was in one of my favourite films of all time, The Big Sleep. RIP.
