every time that violin kicked in... he elevated their already spacey sound further into space. Hawkwind were always better with him than without.

[edit]... I always thought i was too young to have seen Hawkwind with Simon House in the band but according the wiki-timeline of the line-up over the years, i might have seen him with them two or three times between 89-92... oh how my memory betrays me.

I saw Hawkwind a few times post Simon but seem to remember him at the Marquee once. So much talent disappeared now sadly with very few replacing that talent.

I saw them play at Coventry Theatre in 1976. He was probably with the band for that gig.

TBH, my memories of the concert are limited. I do remember though that...
  • I had been looking forward to seeing Stacia perform her usual stage dance routine (in body paint...). I didn't know that she had left the year before.
  • I said to one of my mates: "They are really loud. THE BAND ARE REALLY LOUD. THE BAND ARE REALLY LOUD!! Oh, forget it - I will talk to you after the gig." Mate: "Eh?!" That night was probably a major contributing factor in my eventual hearing problems.
  • One of the band members was cavorting across the stage in a green frog outfit. It kind of made sense at the time!
