He'll be missed. Apart from all those original Star Trek episodes, I remember having the pleasant surprise of seeing him appear in a 2-part episode in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and also his memorable appearance in Fringe as William Bell.

Indeed, he did have quite some fringe, didn't he??

'Cos he looked a bit odd so stood out from the crowd, had such a career defining role playing someone who a LOT of people would love to have been on a Starship a LOT of people would have wanted to be on (if real) and well, you had to be living in a cave not to know who he was!

That said, yes, he was just an actor, but, wow, what an imprint he and his fellow Star Trekers left!

Yes, they're just all actors. But as Mad Doug Biker points out, wouldn't you just love to be on a startship, exploring space, visiting other worlds, other civilisations?. I suspect most of the planet would like to do just that.
