What is with Riser bars? Flat bars look so much better, riser bars look like they belong on my mums shopping bike. I presume there are benefits :becool:

It's all about placing the bars where they are needed, if the bars don't provide the lift required you have to achieve it with either the stem or the steerer.

A lot of riser bars have sweep as well, and are wider. it just makes it easier to ride the bike how you want to.

I staunchly stuck by my narrow flat bars on my MTB for years. Tried some risers and would never go back, they really do make it a lot easier to steer and control the front end

They also give you more adjustment as you can tilt them forward and backwards. I actually once used Easton riser bars upside-down! Looked stupid but I liked where it put my hands.
