lots of clueless comments on that video. I have to take the policeman's side on this one if the cyclists ran the red.

See highway code rule 71 for cyclists

Don't RLJ!

True, but it really is a pity that the officer didn't know the law on this:

Road Traffic Act 1988:

168 Failure to give, or giving false, name and address in case of reckless or careless or inconsiderate driving or cycling.E+W+S

Any of the following persons—

(a)the driver of a [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] who is alleged to have committed an offence under section 2 or 3 of this Act, or

(b)the rider of a cycle who is alleged to have committed an offence under section 28 or 29 of this Act,

who refuses, on being so required by any person having reasonable ground for so requiring, to give his name or address, or gives a false name or address, is guilty of an offence.

Sections 28 and 29 are concerned with dangerous, careless or inconsiderate cycling (which probably includes jumping red lights).

Yep, you'd expect that a police cyclist would be drilled on the sections of the law he's likely to have to enforce so he can do just that.

I saw a policeman run a red light only this morning. He was in his car approaching a red and unaware that I was in an artic approaching a green. He saw me when he was halfway through and had to stop very suddenly indeed, but I watched him (in my mirror) sail blithely through the red once I was past. peanut.

An insignificant piece of toejam trying to make himself 'famous' by 'confronting the arm and hammer of the fascist opressor govenrment' or some such pseudo-communist tosh I expect.
In short, a twerp whom reasonable cyclists could do without being on 'their' side!

What a complete JERK. Complete lack of respect for the law and his actions and the behaviour of others like him are continually undermining the authority of the law. The consequences of this is that when the 'jerks' house gets burgled, or his bike gets nicked, or his granny gets mugged on the way home from bingo he will be just as vocal when the police turn around and say there is not a lot they can do because they may know who the bugger is but they can't touch the suspect because every jumped-up-Johnny and his mates 'know their rights'. There is not a lot the police can do to maintain order and uphold the law in the face of widespread civil disobedience, they're outnumbered and they know it and unfortunately so do the d**kheads!
