Road bike saddle for 200/300km...

What road bike saddle would be good for longer rides, any recommendations?

Can I go too far wrong with a WTB Rocket V Race? For some reason not really that keen on a Brooks option.

if they are going to charge for fitting a saddle after buying it from them , then i would be going somewhere else

Fitting is free - I phoned. You sit on a foam pad, which makes a 'profile'. Though I was thinking - so they make an impression of my sit bones, and then sell me... something off the shelf, in my price range. I'm not sure how the fitting service really directs them to the perfect saddle for me, tbh. Would it be 'length' of saddle for a given model?

have a look at the selle smp saddle and read all the blurb its more about width . you can do the same by sitting on a piece of tin foil and measure the distance saves going to shop .

I went through this exact process yesterday. I was measured and was asked what type of position I typically ride in. When they recommended a saddle not too far from my price range, I bought it.

While I liked the idea of having a Fizik or Selle Italia saddle, like the pros, it was hard to ignore the science behind their recommendation. Having ridden on a fairly uncomfortable saddle for the last 6 months, getting one that fitted me was paramount.

Agree, but possibly not about the shorts.
