They're definitely in the brawns not brain category. I keep hearing something thwapping against the patio doors and each time I've looked out a robin has flown away.

It's attacking its own reflection

There's a sewing machine against the doors on one side providing a nice dark backdrop for a good reflection. Have pulled the curtain over but it makes no difference, am wondering if it will figure out there's something not quite right or if it will beat its brains out against the glass first...

There's a tough one hangs around at the bottom of our garden - when ever I'm down that part of the garden it always appears in a 'what the hell do you want?' sort of a fashion. It flies from tree to bush sort of circling me - I'm sure that eventually it would come over and grab me by the front of my shirt and tell me to clear off!

Robins are quite territorial I think.

Paradoxical isn't it! The robin* is one of the most friendly of all wild birds, towards humans, and it's not difficult to persuade one to perch on your hand. I said a 'good morning' to one I encountered only this morning, as I was getting out my bike, it was perched in a bush right by the door only a few inches away. But towards other robins of the same sex, it's viciously aggressive and territorial, and it's not unknown for these birds to fight to the death.

*European variety I mean. Not the Mary Poppins version!

Yes, the robin must have had a good PR campaign sometime in the past to wheedled their way into our affections ahead of much more sociable and pleasant birds like the humble sparrow.

Who would have thought, a big red breast and some posing in front of the camera would make an impression on popular culture.

there's a robin in our garden that will stand on your foot if you hang around long enough.

Robins come and feed in our rabbit run every year, they're lovely. It's great seeing them hop about, almost makes winter worth it.

Most small birds seem to fall for their own reflections, it's why you get bird crap down your car doors each spring.

wait till one of these gets annoyed with its reflection, then you're in trouble!!
