Appologies if I have missed it, but would there be any mileage (pun!) in a section devoted to routes that you ride?
For example, use the google pedometre map or the GPS trail on a googlemap. It could be broken down into area sections like west mids, staffordshire or however you feel best then people local to that area can try out each others routes.
The route shouldnt start right at your doorstep, but at something that couls be a local landmark like a church, pub or intersection.
Here is a route of my last ride out...

Mostly flat or non-challenging gradients, with the exeption for a few miles after mile 8, steep uphill on the A460 passed the Chase Gate (Was winkin frog), and again after the m6 juntion 11 up passed the Hollybush garden centre.
This route took me aproximately 2 hours 20 on a Carrera Kraken.
Points of note: Cannock halfords is at the 8mile marker.
