It won't help this time, but all RM vans are individually numbered. The Transit type usually have it on the left side of the bonnet, (RHS if looking from the front) just under the windscreen, and again above the rear doors on the RHS. The smaller Combos/Bippas have the number above the windscreen and on the rear.
I'll remember that. Thanks. It'll be easier to remember than the registration number!

It'll just be a short office code and number, for instance my van is 'CDO 30', so it's a lot easier to remember than a full plate.

The officer I spoke to told me they still need a witness even with camera footage. That alone isn't enough. He also said that with the amount of complaints they get from cyclists he wouldn't cycle on the roads because it's too dangerous. Shouldn't something be done if that's the case? What can we do to help make the roads safer?
That is total rubbish, provided the footage is of a decent quality and it is clear what has happened, the camera footage is more than enough. It is far more reliable than any witness could be, what's more, once PC Blob has seen it, he is now a witness in the eyes of the law.
I had an incident where I refused a witness' offer for contact details (I should have taken them anyway as it can only help) but I had everything on camera, the guy was arrested the same day the report was filed and given a police caution. I suggest you go back to that officer and ask them where they got that idea from.

I would've pushed it more if I actually had a camera and some footage. I'll cross that bridge once I have a camera fitted. Thanks for the info though.
