RS80 C24's

Hi guys,

Your input please.

Just picked up a set of these wheels and have ridden on them for about 70 miles so far. I've noticed a couple of problems with them are wonder if any of you guys who own a set have had the same.

Firstly, the bearings on the front are rough, they roll good enough but compared to my Ksyrium's, they are rough.
Secondly, the rear wheel is out of true already.

Are these common faults? I've already sent PX an email to see what they say but I'm feeling a little disappointed right now.

Where these brand new? There is one school of thought that says new wheels should be loosened off and re-tensioned by a knowledgeable wheel builder. I've never done it but then again I've never had an issue either, (touch wood).

Also, which Ksyrium's? Are the RS80's and your Ksyrium's similarly priced wheel? If not then you're not comparing like for like. If they are then argue the toss with the supplier for some new bearings.

As for out of true, you could argue it's one of those things that can happen at any time, but if you bought them from a reputable LBS then I'd expect they'd sort it without quibble, I know mine would

Yep, brand new from Planet X and comparing them to a set of Equipes. So, these should be the better wheel, well more expensive at any rate .

I hear what your saying, I've seen wheels go out of true but not as fast as these. I raised a fault about the bearings the day I got them and was told to ride them to see if they bedded in, so hopefully Planet X will do something about it.

The Ksyrium's are a little over a year old, run true without ever having any work done to them. Maybe I expected too much from the RS's.

Wondering if you resolved this? I have had similar problems with these wheels constantly going out of true, although mine did take a hit.

Mine have been great (bought Aug 2011). No problems so far, though I am going for a ride in about an hour and you know what will happen now...

Mine went back for a refund, shame they promised to be great wheels.
