Snapper - gobbing is something I think is totally fowl.... I never do it, neither can I do a good one.......

But I have to snot rocket - it doesn't sound much compared to gobbing....... hissss.....hissss..... is more like it.....

My sinus glands go mad on the bike - learn to live with it - it's not got better in 23 years....... my aim and timing has.......

Being a well brought up girlie, I just hope I get a red light to enable me to get a tissue out ;)

I have mastered the art of using a tissue while cycling, usually tuck it in the top of my leggins so handy but occasionally forget and there's a packet in the pannier in case of need. Cycling whatever the weather seems to make my nose run.

Had some fun with all this snot rocketting stuff this weekend as came down with a cold mid-bike trip - the shoulder seemed to take a few direct hits. One more cycling milestone.

It's all polysaccaride. Wonder how many calories been burnt in snot production over a days ride. Not that anyone would want to eat it.

I got given a scarf for Christmas which has pockets at the end of it...I presume I was meant to put my hands in them but that has proved to be a good place to keep a tissue or two:smile:.

Im a fan of the snot rocket myself, just make sure you give it some or you'll end up covered in it :blush:

What does everyone do whilst on a group ride? Is there some sort of hand signal warning fellow riders to duck and cover?

I dug out an old pair of ski gloves at the weekend for to keep my little pinkies warm on the cold mornings. I found out they're quite good for wiping in an emergency. Must remember to wash them from time to time.

I also keep a (clean!!) tissue tucked up one sleeve for when I get to my destination so I can have a good, ahem, sort out. And I have a lens cleaning cloth up the other sleeve for rain clearing and demisting duties. Just have to remember which is which!!

the reason why noses run like buggery in cold weather is because as well as being a filtration organ the nose warms up air before it reaches the lungs.
In cold weather the blood vessels in the nose really dilate to try to warm the incoming air.
This sends the mucus producing glands into total overdrive.
A healthy nose at normal temperature produces about 4 cups of snot a day.
You won't notice any of this normally as it quietly and stealthily slides down the back of the throat.

Finger and thumb on either side of the nose, press together and then slide down the nose with a quick flick of the wrist when you get to the bottom of the nose. Works a treat so long as you do it the opposite side to the prevailing wind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe we should design a helmet where we could fit a toilet roll inside and the let the end pass through one of the vent slots and then have semi permanent supply of tissue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
