Except for roasts, I always keep the skin on spuds (and I do most of the cooking).
a) laziness
b) I like it that way
c) vitamins etc, I have read.

None of this is anything like as annoying as 'new' potatoes that turn out to be small old potatoes boiled in their skins.

I was also recently served roast potatoes with the skin stil in place
I hope you went straight on Tripadvisor and were suitably scathing.
