Loved the N630.

I can understand that. For an "old" road it's in excellent condition and with very little traffic. It passes through some wonderful places - with wonderful names - but myself and Sallar seem to have finally found a point of agreement - it can be incredibly dull. Unfortunately, the usual choice is either the road or very much off-road - and the off-road ain't easy. Glorious, though.

Not so much admiring the landscape as being in the landscape

The pilgrims or GR 10 missed out the roman road over the Cantabtian mountains as the weather was bad. From Oviedo its GR signs.

I hadn't picked up on the GR100 so thanks for that. Now I know what to follow when I go back.

Oviedo is an interesting place with all the Sidrerías and the giant wooden barrels. And the people in Gijón are a hardy bunch.
