Part of Ryanair's proposed new pre-flight passenger safety briefing has been leaked;

'in the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure deposit a pound coin in the slot above your head and an oxygen mask will be dispensed. In the unlikely event of the plane having to land on water life jackets may be purchased from the cabin staff'.

Stools. They're "proposing" stools now to save on cabin space. Stools! Still, no publicity is bad publicity.

Yep,
get what you pay for at the end of the day. Awful airline.
Flew a couple of times to Lubeck (Hamburg), more like Lubeck (Denmark).
And Lubeck's terminal was a sight to behold, it was a massive big tent...

I stick to scheduled carriers now..

I've given up on Ryanair. It's just not worth it once you've added up all the extra costs for the routes I fly.

Aye, their cheapness is merely an illusion. I wonder if people will wake up to this fact though before more of the main airlines have gone to the wall and we'll have no option but to go Lyin' Air, Sleazy Jet and Jet2no-where. What a happy day that will be!

At a guess i would say that Ryan Air is in financial difficulty, that is why they are coming up with these crackpot ideas to make more money. I have only flown with them once, some years ago to Venice. It was actually Treviso which is quite a way from Venice. It turned out to be an old military airfield but is was nearer to where I wanted to be.

That was our last Ryannair trip. Arrived two hours late and had to take cab to Venice. Return flight also two hours late, and had to wheedle a lift in to London

Ah yes Treviso - it only took the tourists a long time to get to Venice!! There are far quicker ways for those prepared to walk or get the local bus to the centre of town instead of jumping on the coach outside the terminal. I lived in Padova so like Paulus it was more convenient anyway.

I don't see what the problem is with ryanair. They are cutting back on luxuries but they are also cutting ticket prices. I'd rather pay for what luxuries I do want and not ones I don't, than pay for a package that includes things I don't want or use.

Yes I think they should charge to use the bog. If people are too disorganised to go before they get on the plane then that's their own problem - ryanair are having to pay to have the bog on the plane in the first place, so why should I, as someone who remembers to go before I get on, have to pay my share of that amount for those who don't?

One way in which I think they could also save money is to let people lug their own suitcases into the plane. All they would need to do is to provide the same platforms/escalators/cherry pickers/whatever apparatus the baggage handlers use to put people's bags on the plane, but let people do it themselves. All you would need is one supervisor to make sure people were doing it right and not nicking anybody else's bag, you would only need about 2 baggage handlers per plane instead of about 10 or 20 that they probably have currently.
You get it off again yourself at the other end as well.
This would obviously also double up as a massive boon to people with bikes, as you could make sure it isn't being knocked about as you are doing it yourself.
What with the growing popularity in cycle touring they could advertise this as a feature of ryanair because i'm sure the jet-setting cyclist's biggest worry is baggage handlers damaging their bike by being careless.

Also instead of having a bus that takes passengers from the car park to the terminal, they could provide bikes that can tow those luggage trolleys, and then make a charge for using that bus for anybody who doesn't want to/can't cycle.

Stools for pilots.

Only one pilot per flight.

Cabin crew given provisional pilots' licences to stand in for co-pilot.

Pilots expected to serve meals while plane on autopilot.

I don't like that Ryanair bloke. He makes his customers feel worthless.

Whereas if you fly Airfrance, the fare is so steep you may really end up worthless:ohmy:

Anyway, because RA is the only good way to fly from Yorkshire to Limoges, a huge number of ex-pats and people I know use them regularly and frequently on the short flights from E. Mids and Liverpool. It has proved an excellent way to travel with the possibility of paying extremely little. The puntuality is remarkable (I often meet people at Limoges airport) in fact they are usually early and if you have only hand baggage is about as quick to leave the aircraft as it is getting off a train.

They are now very strict about hand baggage being within the size/weight allowance which is great if you are pig-sick of fellow passengers who think they can take what they like and fill up all the overhead locker space to avoid paying for their suitcases.

Of course the somewhat draconian way in which they adhere to their stated terms and conditions undoubtedly does upset people who make human errors and so they get criticised.

My cousin who owns an aviation safety consultancy has assured me that Ryanair standards of safety are equal to the best in the business. Mind you, he was an RAF Phantom pilot so his ideas of safety won't include comfort!

I´m flying with RuinAir on Saturday back to Stansted.

I expect them to be ridiculously determined to catch me out for traveling over the required weight allowance for hand luggage.

I have to check-in online, if I don´t (or if I don´t have a print-out of my ticket - it sufficed with a ref. no. before) I´ll have to pay 40 squid, which is three pounds more than my flight!
