Yup it's true. So all his roles up until now have been preparation for playing the great Freddie Mercury - Bruno, Borat, Ali G - What is fish?

Even for SBC I think this is a role too far .

Mind he'll have to put on a bit of weight, cut his hair and start working out. And most importantly can he sing?

He'd have to play the part amazingly well to stop you thinking about Ali G and Borat.

I reckon he could do it though, but whether the audience would take him seriously is another thing.

Doesn't sound particularly interesting - even if you are a fan.
