the only thing he hasnt done is score a triple hundred, shame that someone of that quality never did, apart from that his records are fantastic, averaging over 50 for 200 test matches1

But Bradman had a much better average at 99 and a bit.

Quality beats quantity in my books.

He was an exceptional player but much more than that in India. It's not relevant, or even possible to compare him with other batsmen from any era. His influence on cricket and life in the largest cricketing nation in the world is immeasurable, and whether he was better than Lara, Bradman or Ponting is to miss the point.
If I had to pick a batsmen to score a century for my life in the last 30 years I'd probably go for Ricky Ponting in his pomp though!

He too was rated above Tendulkar on the qualitative front.

Yes, I know but the rankings don't tell the whole story. Nobody who followed cricket would really rank Lara at 23rd or Tendulkar at 29th. Lara, for instance, played in a poor team and had to adjust his game accordingly while Tendulkar played for a long time and his average and effectiveness declined as he aged.
The stats don't show what a magnificent player he was in his best years and the fact that he wasn't as good in his 'dotage' doesn't diminish that.
Had Bradman been able to play as many tests and ODIs his figures may not have been as healthy.

didnt realise we were comparing to bradman, yes i agree difficult to argue against an average of nearly 100, he only needed 4 in his last innings to average 3 figures, he got a duck
