Hello SurlyNomad, if you find it comfortable welcome to the multitude of Brooks users, if you don't give up as there are certainly many people who don't get on with them.
The only thing I haven't seen above is a note about the seat angle. With these saddles it is a very important adjustment. I've had several B17s and ridden them a very long way. I can set one up very quickly for my comfort, apart from the angle which takes several goes to get right. The optimum position varies between them.
