Saw this in the metro today...looks like smashing fun for those used to a bent.

I don't understand sailing techniques, so I have no idea how you would tack into a head wind (is tack the term?)

from the website it seems 40mph winds are the best, anything under or over that and its just a bent, with a huge sail rolled up on the side .
There is angle into the wind were the sail loses it's ability to move the craft forwards, this is different for each type of sailing craft. So you need to tack, ie go left then right pointing as far into the wind as you can. However if you are on a narrow stretch of water, or in this case a path, the only option is to get out and push.

Needs width to tack, but once the oil's run out, the motorways will be super trike sailing routes.

Now- should I put a sail on my trike, or fit wheels to my trimaran?

how about a multi sail wind bike ..skeatesy.com

It looks like fun, but I certainly wouldn't use one on the road despite their (dubious) claim that it is legal.

40mph wind is full gale force wind. You don't get it that often, particularly on land.

I'm missing something. What's the difference between those and the land-yachts that I was playing in over 20 years ago?
