I think he was in every British series ever since the 70's! Often turned up in drama as well as comedy. RIP.

Oh, he lived in my street (or round the corner). Knew he was a familiar face from old British TV shows, but never found out his name.

Haven't seen him for a while.

Friend of mine used to do a pub quiz.

He devised a joke round in which he would 'kill' a third-rate celebrity.

One evening the target was former Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan.

The pub was in a backstreet in the north of England, so fairly remote.

But during the round a rather po-faced young man approached my mate and said: "Do you mind, Peter Duncan is my uncle."
