The downside of mounting a cam on the bars - it misses a lot! You can't really see a collision here, but the silver Suzuki hit me then went on to rear end the car in front as I pulled myself out from the middle.
Are cams a menace? I mean, really! I haven't used my cam for over a year as I upgraded my SD card and lost my 2GB one, and my ancient low-res cam won't take more than a 2GB. I fitted it today, went into town, bought a new SD card and batteries, fitted them and switched it on.
A total of 5m 36s riding before a collision! I don't think people ride around looking for trouble, but there must be some mystical force that brings trouble to active cams!
I suppose it shows what can happen when gaps quickly disappear. I am aware that going through the gap may have been unwise, however it was plenty wide enough and the cars should not have been blindly continuing to block the junction. My logic - erroneous it would seem, is that as I could see the queue would not be moving any time in the next few seconds, it seemed pointless to miss the change of lights. Going right behind the silver Suzuki would have meant putting myself in the path of oncoming traffic heading straight across from the opposite road sharing the same green phase.
I didn't expect the silver Suzuki to set off as I was between, and sandwich me between the blue car - which didn't move at all! Luckily I had 2 packed panniers, so the potato waffles proved to be indeed waffly versatile, as collision fenders. Bit too squashed to eat now though but squashed waffles and a little blue paint left behind on my chainstay isn't the end of the world..glad of the wide load though otherwise it would have been my legs sandwiched between bumpers
You can *just* make out the silver Suzuki start to move as I pass through the gap. As I pulled myself out from between the 2, the Suzuki continued on, to bump into the back of the blue Honda. Didn't *look* to be any damage to the Honda, as I advised the driver who chose to trust my assesment.
By the time I pulled the cam from the bar mount to point it to the scene the blue Honda had edged forward, so you can't actually see any collision at all - Must dig out the helmet mount
