I went shopping for a pair of those today in Reading, in the end I couldn't bring myself to buy them, I couldn't do it my family, I couldn't let them and myself down like that.

Know what you mean CarlP, you don't want to look like six year old! I was reading a cycling blog recently by a guy who travels very light, they're his cycling shoe of choice.

I have a pair (well had, until the dog broke the strap off one of them!) for around the house and garden and they are useful for the beach too. I'll need to go get another pair now.

I've a cheapo pair for wandering out into the garden, I've never thought about wearing them on the bike though they are useful camping. I have wondered about the wellie style one for cycling in through winter torrential downpours.
