...That's a road(ie) SWEEPER. yep i'd just set out this morning and he was driving in the gutter  doing about 10 mph
so i applied some blistering pace and passed him at approx 11 mph  i kept this going for a while in case he was miffed and tried to pass me, but a quick glance over my shoulder confirmed i'd lost him...or more likely he'd stopped and turned round  So i have to know; does this count as a scalping? .......'cos it's the only roadie i'm ever gonna pass ;)

i actually scalped a roadie on the way home, he was even wearing club kit. he caught me when i stopped at a red light and i kept up with him for the next mile after the lights changed, until i turned off to go home.

now thinking i should have stayed for a few miles to give me a bigger boost.

I once got into a race with a road biker whilst on my hybrid. After over taking him, we leap frogged each other for over 5 miles! He bottled it (I tell myself) by turning off the main road. I think he was pretending to live down that side road, because he knew I was going to overtake him again!

I'd have taken him if I hadn't already been riding for 5 miles before our paths crossed.

I had some roadie on a nice looking Felt racer trying to catch me this morning. There's me spinning along at a nice cruising speed when I notice the roadie join my road, they only managed to close the gap every time I had to slow down for traffic/junctions etc. as soon as it was clear road I started to pull away again. Eventually when I was stopped at lights, he wobbles past looking very purple and close to collapse, didn't see him again as I turned off.

I can only assume some roadies feel it's their roadie duty to show us hybrid users with full panniers, mudguards/flaps, "whose the daddy".

I frequently pass a road sweeper while riding my Brompton.

I gave some bloke on a road bike but in jeans lots of points the other day - he passed me while I was in full lycra and riding my new Time Trial bike.... In my defence, that was only my second time out on it, and it is taking me a little time to get used to it. I wasn't trying to go fast!!!

Oh  I didn't mean to be showing off - it is just a very slow road sweeper (and Bromptons are faster than you might think, especially with a tail wind! )

 ....i still don't know if passing a road sweeper counts as a scalping, does it only count if its another bike you pass? Well you and i have both scalped something with an engine, thats gotta be worth points

I rarely get scalped on my B; but I stop behind most of the people in front of me at lights.

And I've only travelled 1/2 mile so I'm fresh.

However, it must be said that my B is capable of keeping up with (in a general sense) most other cyclists.
