To my surprise, yes I am! I knew I was when I was in my early teens but I thought I'd grown out of it. Nope. Anything above around 10 foot off the ground and my legs start to freeze up. I had to get a neighbour to change some fluorescent tubes in my wife's workshop.... most embarrassing!
Edit: dear god, I've just watched the video! That was seriously uncomfortable to watch. I felt nauseous!
Looking at man made heights like that causes me to have a pain in the base of my feet and that video really sent the signals to my feet ! Anything natural like trees, cliff's ect do not have any effect.....whats that all about ? I even did Go-Ape in Grizedale and had a ball !
The guy's in that video had balls of steel !
Once you get to a certain height, you'll die if you fall off, and if you carry on to the top and fall off, it will be the same result, but you will have slightly longer to realise you was in the wrong job before you hit the deck.
It's the minute of thinking 'OMFG this is really going to hurt!' that concerns me.
I'm not mad keen on the violent deceleration of meeting terra firma either.
It's not called 'terminal velocity' for nothing...
The survival bit of hardwiring in the brain that keeps people off the heights never developed in me and I have literally no fear of being in a high or exposed position whatsoever. I do have another fear though and it seems to have filled the bit missing in the height-fear dept. It is water! Not getting a bath or shower like, but bodies of still or moving water. I literally cannot jump in to any body of water even if the evidence of my own eyes shows it is shallower than knee height. A near-drowning experience as a small child overpowers my mind in that situation so I think I may have over-compensated for that fear by not having another one. The height one.
