There I was cycling a long at a nice pace minding my own business, when out of nowhere a sudden side wind gust nearly wiped me out, wow that got my heart racing. Could have been nasty having an off at 24 mph.

Yikes!!! Rather scary.

I remember one like that, I got blown nearly across the road. I was on my Hurricane, coming down the hill from Locksbottom and doing 35mph, and then got hit by a big gust of wind round the side of some houses/trees.

It is something I hate about the 30mm rims I have on my commuter, those sideways gust winds can really push you around.

Aye, hit the top of an incline this morning, open fields on either side and damned near got thrown into a passing land rover.
thankfully he was giving me plenty of room and i had pretty good control. but yeah, freaky moment when you feel that front wheel shift eh?

Cant think of much i like less than sidewinds in traffic.

Although yesterday i very nearly took a pigeon to the face at about 25mph, which could have been interesting. SMIDSY PIDGEY

When I first got my Madone (16.5 lbs) I was leaning into a right hander putting little weight on the front end. A gust of wind from the right to left picked up the front end of the bike very scary, I am much more aware of it now.

Gotta love sidewinds...45 miler yesterday, not once did I have a tailwind, was blowing from all sides except the back. Worse parts is when you are passing a junction just after some houses, soon as you hit the junction, you're fighting with the handlebars/front wheel/steering as the wind comes up from the side street....31mm deep section rims don't help
