Not sure what the hell I hit this morning but almost had my first off on the bike. Presumed it was puncture but nothing? Diesel possibly or a really helpful pot hole filled in with loose stones.

Diesel spillages are horrible, the unseen hazard especially in the wet, dark days that are now upon us.
Glad to hear you are ok.
Be aware of the danger on roundabouts and long curves. Lorry drivers always seem to fill up to the brink, possibly because of pressure from employers or deadlines! Apt word when cyclists and spillages meet.
If a pothole get a picture and location and report it, if enough do complain it may get sorted. Make a mental note in your head of the spot and be ready for it.
There may be a future ride when you have no option but to ride across it again. It wakes you up doesn't it.

I know it sounds soft but really scared me! Makes you realise it can happen any time and any place.

I hit a wet manhole cover this morning and just about done the same. Was my own fault tho i knew it was there and just never thought to avoid it but lesson learned.
