looking for some general purpose 700x23 road tyres. Dont race , prefer a bit of robustness rather than worrying too much about weight.
Several places advertising a pair of them for £20 or is it a case of if it seems too good to be true....

Never tried Luganos, but I recommend Vittoria Rubinos if you're looking at cost effective tires. I must have done ~1500+ miles on mine now and they're yet to puncture and still have significant life left in them. You can get them from Wiggle for about £11 each.

Good value and as puncture resistant as anything I've used, I got around 2500 winter miles out of the last one I had ( on the rear) until the tread wore down and it became a touch slick.

Would buy again.

I have Blizzards which are something similar and love them. They've taken thorn/glass/sharp stuff/ turbo/thousands of road miles worth of abuse.

And are still in use!

Cheers guys, I was looking at these myself this week. Got a sidewall puncture on my front Conti gatorskin this week, for what I could pay for one of the Conti,s I could get a matching pair of Lugs in blue. Bling !! Bling !!

I have found these to be excellent performing budget tyres, I read the reviews online about them not handling in the wet and being puncture prone and have found this to be nonsense! I suspect under inflation by inexperienced cyclists to be the cause of this, I keep mine at about 120 psi and they are great handling budget tyres. Hope this helps :-)

Luganos do suffer in the wet, the compound is quite hard and not very sticky.

Max pressure is not necessarily the optimum pressure, in fact it rarely is.

They are pretty good for avoiding punctures though.
