Scott Scale MTB. But which one?

Dark cloud, silver lining. Stolen bikes (a Cube Acid 29 and a Hardrock 26) means a 650b replacement is on the cards. Scott Scale seems to be the winner in most reviews but two versions are in budget. The entry 770 with XCR fork, or at around 200 quid more a 760 with lighter frame and XC30. Is the extra cash worth it for a weekend XC rider? Any views most welcome.
