SE ferries at Easter

Considering taking off either to Hook of Holland or Calais at the last minute over Easter, but don't really want to book anything in case family stuff comes up etc.

Anyone able to say if just turning up as a foot (bike) passanger is much of an issue at peak periods like Easter?

very unlikely. If you went to Dover there's a ferry every few mins and not many people travelling due to the recession and the value of the pound.
