Security Marking - advice please

Hi all,

I shall be picking up my new Cannondale Synapse Tiagra Disc this week purchased under the Cycle to Work Scheme from my employer. My current ride is a Carrera Crixus which I never got round to security marking, but thought I really should get my new bike marked due it's substantially increased value and also the fact that it's not actually mine for another 18 months or so. My wife's just bought a new bike (Fuji Finest 2.1) so I should get that marked up too.

In light of this, can anyone offer me some advice and experience on security marking. I can see that Bike Register offer stickers and permanent marking then there's kits available through Wiggle for DataTag (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/datatag-stealth-pro/). Not sure which way to go!

Mine was done foc by the police who register it

My store (cycle surgery) marked, registered and set the bike up for me...or perhaps Specialized do before shipping. All I had to do was log into the site and put my details against the record for the bike.

It has micro dots in a few hard to reach places.

Perhaps ask your lbs when picking up, what they can offer.

Thanks @vickster, I've just tweeted NW Police to ask them if they have any sessions in my area soon.

@jonny jeez My LBS is Evans Cycles, and they seem to sell the DataTag system so I assume that's what they'll recommend but I will ask them when I pick it up. Thanks.

Met police used to use https://www.immobilise.com/ then they changed to https://www.bikeregister.com. I'd go with the latter, after you hear from NW police. If they use someone different, use that.

It's free, if the police mark your bike, otherwise you have to buy a kit.
