Security of Bikes

Security is a main issue when it comes to bikes! Many people i know leave their bike within their offices at work as they are too afraid of locking it up outside especially when their bikes are very valuable to them.

If you are in the same situation can you explain they key points why you don't leave your bike chained up outside? Or know of any useful links about statistics on thefts of bikes.
