i am going on a two week bike tour in denmark come the end of april. i have a surly big dummy that i am already trying to sell and i thought maybe i would take it on the tour if i can meet someone who would like to buy it. if anyone has any information on how to sell a bike in denmark, that would be great.

thanks,

alex

The two major online second hand marketplaces are

http://cykler.dba.dk/

http://www.guloggratis.dk/transport/cykler-tilbehor/

These are, of course, in Danish. If you need some translation assistance in getting a post up, let me know. Most Danes are fairly proficient in English so you should be able to communicate easily enough with potential buyers.

I think there are now also physical stores that will buy used bikes, but these are I believe more oriented towards refurbishment, and may not be relevant for you.

Why sell it? Are you forgetting the n+1 rule?.....you should be going to Denmark to buy a new bike :giggle:

But only if its something that you can't easily buy here, or something like a lovely Velorbis, etc etc. There is no point going all that way to get a bike you can buy here, now is there?

Oh yes, and hello Alex!!

When are you coming and where are you going.

How much are you asking for it and can you post a photo.

Steve
i'll be coming the 25th of april through the 6th or so. just a short ten day ride from copenhagen and eventually to aalborg to visit where my grandparents are from. i don't really know how much a surly big dummy would go for in denmark so if you can help me out with any info on that. i've already been planning on selling it in the states, but if i can sell it to some one in denmark then all the better. it seems there is only one surly dealer: 222 cycles, so i imagine they are hard to get a hold of.

as for the bike its a black 2012 big dummy with:
- rohloff hub (drilled out to 48 spokes for unnecessary strength, but if you wanna carry a fridge on your bike...).
-shimano alfine generator hub
- halo SAS rims (36 spoke front)
-chris king nothread headset
-jeff jones loop h-bar
-brand new schwalbe fat franks
-e3 pro headlight and rear light

Looks like dba does not allow bike ads without a verified Danish address, so that might be tricky.

The other one looks to be less restrictive. Here's a direct link to the posting of an ad in the mens cycles (general) category:

I think Google translate should get you through the form.

Thanks a lot for the advice, I'll let u know how it goes. I've been trying to post a picture on here but I seem to be having trouble copying a URL from Facebook - any better ideas on linking a photo?

Now that you've made your first few posts you should find a button has appeared marked "upload a file" next to the "post reply" one. If you click on this you should be able to upload a picture from your computer. There is a file size limit though so it may need compressing if it's a big file.
