Can you not remove them under your settings?

I'd understand if someone wrote - sent whilst out of the office or on the move in case over zealous work colleagues wanted in office things done as the logic but the branding is just crap.

mine doesn't, it gives my name, url and phone numbers as a signature

You can switch off or edit your signature. Not sure where on an HTC but it's in Settings on the iPhone. The default is the one User describes.
