And drank enough for at least 2 full lifetimes.

Yeah, 65 isn't a bad inning, considering. Still a sad loss.

Sadder is Kirsty dying at 41. I know the Pogues "family" all mourn her terribly too.

(Christmas number one? Uncensored version at Number two?? :P )

What a great loss, I've been a pogues fan since the 90's. Fairytale of NY was of course a classic but IMO did not even come close to some of the other songs they did. I read his Autobiography in the early 2000s and it was very interesting.

My old boss bumped into him (literally) in a pub in London years ago, she said sorry and he bought her a pint of pernod and black.

RIP Shane

Whether you like his music or not he was a talent despite his alcohol dependency / addiction.

Is it a loss? Yes, despite him not releasing much of note lately. It was amazing he lasted so long tbh.

Born in Kent to Irish parents. Made it on the London scene fusing punk with music of his childhood.

Dirty old town
Fiesta,
Streams of whiskey
Thousands are sailing.

Some classics beyond the Xmas songs and a Perfect World that he did and did again with lou Reed for charity.

What's your view on him and his music?
